Eisco is making sustainability a standard, not a statement

We believe that sustainability isn’t just a trend—it’s a responsibility we all share. As a manufacturer of science education tools, laboratory glassware, and industrial solutions, we’re mindful of the environmental impact of our work. While we may not change the world overnight, we’re committed to making thoughtful, meaningful choices that help reduce our footprint.

From investing in solar-powered operations to cutting down on plastic packaging and choosing recyclable materials wherever possible, we’re doing our bit—step by step—to build a more sustainable future.

In this blog, we share some of the everyday actions and long-term initiatives that reflect our commitment to the planet.

Solar-Powered manufacturing

As a large-scale manufacturer, our operations naturally demand a significant amount of energy—to power machines, run equipment, and light up our facilities. In recent years, we’ve taken conscious steps to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and minimize their impact on the planet. We designed our spaces to include large windows that bring in more natural light, reducing the need for artificial lighting during the day.

In 2021, we took a bigger leap by installing solar panels on our rooftop. This marked a meaningful shift in how we approach everyday operations and embracing eco-friendly solutions that make a real difference over time. A significant portion of our manufacturing operations is powered by solar energy. By tapping into this renewable source, we’re reducing our dependence on fossil fuels and lowering our carbon footprint. Every kilowatt of solar energy we use is a step toward a cleaner, greener future.  It’s a small but important part of our broader effort to operate responsibly and contribute to a cleaner, greener world.

Sustainable Packaging: Eco-Friendly Approach

Sustainable packaging is one of the most impactful areas where companies like ours can make a major difference. At Eisco, we understand that packaging with plastic has a long-term adverse impact on our environment, and that’s why we’ve taken steps to ensure minimal environmental harm without compromising on safety, quality or the requirements of our customers.

FSC-Certified Materials

Our packaging uses paper and cardboard that are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). This certification ensures that the materials are sourced from responsibly managed forests that protect biodiversity, uphold Indigenous rights, and promote long-term forest health. By choosing FSC-certified materials, we actively support ethical forestry practices and help prevent deforestation.

In addition to being recyclable, our paper and cardboard are certified as FSC Mix, meaning they are made from a blend of recycled materials and responsibly sourced wood from FSC-certified forests.

Reducing Plastic In Packaging

Plastic pollution is one of the biggest challenges our environment is facing today. At Eisco, we are taking the necessary steps to reduce and gradually eliminate unnecessary plastic usage in our packaging.

Our efforts include:

  • Replacing single-use plastics with recyclable paper and cardboard wherever we can, provided it meets safety standards and customer expectations.

  • Redesigning packaging to minimize plastic use. For instance, instead of individually wrapping plastic beakers, we now shrink-wrap them in sets—significantly reducing unnecessary material.

We know we still have a long way to go. A complete shift away from plastic packaging is a challenge in our industry, but it’s one we’re committed to tackling. Our goal is to expand the use of recyclable and biodegradable materials across all product lines and continue improving our environmental impact, one update at a time.

Reusable Packaging

At Eisco, we are exploring features of reusable packaging, which is often overlooked but can be a great stepping stone to improve sustainability. With our innovative foam packaging in what we call Safety Packs, we not only provide exceptional protection and support to glassware, but also prevent single use waste. It provides a convenient storage solution that offers long lasting quality, resulting in minimum waste.

100% Recyclable Glassware

Our sustainability promise also extends to our laboratory glassware to not only be durable and precise, but also being 100% recyclable. Recycling glass requires significantly less energy than manufacturing it from raw materials, leading to a reduced environmental footprint. By simply placing broken or old Eisco LabGlass in your local recycling bin, you help conserve resources and give the material a new life—without adding to landfill waste.

The Future of Sustainability at Eisco

At Eisco, sustainability isn’t a one-time initiative—it’s an evolving journey. We know that real impact comes from continuous improvement, thoughtful innovation, and long-term commitment. As we look ahead, we’re focused on:

  • Expanding solar energy use across more operations

  • Innovating low-waste, plastic-free packaging designs

  • Scaling up the use of recyclable and biodegradable materials

  • Strengthening supplier partnerships that align with ethical and environmental standards.

Our goal is to embed sustainability into every aspect of our business - from the way we power our facilities to how we design, package, and deliver products. We’re proud of the steps we’ve taken so far, but we know the road ahead is long, and we’re ready to walk it.
